Kolkata: The city received intermittent drizzles on Monday, including a spell of sharp evening shower, even as the maximum temperature rose to 31.4°C. Light to moderate rain may continue in Kolkata and south Bengal over the next two days, but the chances of heavy, consistent rain were low, said the Met office.
A low-pressure area set to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal may trigger heavy rain along the coasts of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, but it is unlikely to have a significant impact on Bengal. "The system could form either on Tuesday or Wednesday. But it will have little impact on south Bengal. The coastal areas may receive moderate rain under its impact, though," said Regional Meteorological Centre weather scientist HR Biswas. He added that intermittent showers, however, will continue in Kolkata and its surrounding areas.
