• Poll panel writes to state govt on vacancies, again

  • Kolkata: With earlier letters yet to evoke a response, the EC has written to the Bengal govt once again calling upon it to fill vacant posts, an official said on Wednesday.

    Bengal CEO Manoj Agarwal, in a letter to chief secretary Manoj Pant, has called for filling of vacancies of deputy CEO, joint CEO, additional CEOs as well as EROs and AEROs, reports Debashis Konar.

    He has also sought a report on filling of vacancies by Aug 29. The EC wants all posts filled before the SIR exercise begins in Bengal. | Gold Rates Today in Kolkata | Silver Rates Today in KolkataWith hundreds of posts vacant, Nabanna officials held a meeting on this regard.

    One official said that many are apprehensive about being appointed AEROs after the recent suspension and departmental proceeding directives by EC against four officials. The WBCS (Exe) association has also expressed its concern over the action.

    There are also large number of vacancies for booth-level officers (BLOs), considering there are supposed to be 14,000 additional booths set up in Bengal ahead of the upcoming elections.
