• 2 from Bengal get national vocational training award

  • Kolkata: Two from Bengal received the National Teachers' Award 2025 for excellence in vocational training. Sukanta Konar and Indranil Mukherjee from Govt Industrial Training Institute, Durgapur, were among 16 awardees across India.

    Sharing the news on X, CM Mamata Banerjee wrote on Friday: "This honour is a reflection and reaffirmation of the state govt's dedication towards building a world-class technical education and vocational training ecosystem that continues to ensure employment-focused training and skilling for its youth. Congratulations to the awardees, their families, and the entire technical education, training and skilling ecosystem of the state!"

    The state also has two schoolteachers — Tanusree Das and Madhurima Acharya — among the 45 who will receive the National Teachers' Award on Sept 5.
