Hooghly MP Rachna Banerjee today inaugurated the first smart classroom in her constituency at Bani Mandir, Chinsurah.
A smart classroom is a traditional classroom upgraded with technology such as interactive whiteboards, projectors, computers, and multimedia tools to create a more engaging, personalised, and effective learning environment. These digital resources bring lessons to life through videos, animations, and interactive exercises, helping students to better understand complex topics and develop critical skills such as problem-solving and digital literacy.
Speaking at the event, the Hooghly MP said: “My main aim is to focus on education and health in my constituency. I will use my MPLAD funds for the upgrade of educational institutions and health services. I will also continue serving the people of my constituency by addressing their demands and needs.”
Responding to questions from the media, Ms Banerjee rejected the allegations made by Ranjit Singh Bittu, minister of state for railways and minister of state for food processing industries, that MPs from West Bengal are indifferent towards the development of railways in their constituencies. She said: “I have written to the railway minister on several occasions regarding various railway development issues in my constituency. The minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, has responded to my demands and assured me that he will look into the matter and take initiatives to provide improved railway amenities for passengers as per their requirements.”
Ms Banerjee presented copies of her letters and the replies from the railway minister before the media and elaborated on her demands. These include the extension of Metro services to Chinsurah, stoppage of the Sealdah-Ajmer Express at Bandel Junction, construction of a shed on Platform No. 1 at Kuntighat railway station, and construction of over-bridges at certain stations in her constituency. She also demanded better railway amenities for passengers boarding trains at Bandel, Bhadreswar, Mankundu, Gurap, and other stations.
The Hooghly MP added: “I am sincere in serving the people of my constituency. It is really shocking that Ranjit Singh Bittu is unaware that MPs from West Bengal are equally concerned about ensuring that people in their constituencies are provided with upgraded railway amenities and services.”
