• Change makers in water conservation recognised

  • Electrosteel Castings Limited hosted the third edition of their award ceremony, Electrosteel Jal Sevak Samman 2025. This award recognises individuals and institutions driving impactful change in the water conservation space. Jal Sevak Samman 2025 has upheld its spirit of recognising the heroes dedicatedly working in water conservation, sustainability and equitable water access across India.

    The glittering award ceremony was graced by Justice K G Balakrishnan, former Chief Justice of India & chairperson, national commission on conversion as chief guest, along with P M Prasad, chairman and managing director, Coal India and Dhriti Banerjee, director, Zoological Survey of India.

    In the Individual Category, Ms Lilabati Mahata from West Bengal was awarded for her tireless grassroots initiatives in Jhargram, where she spearheaded pond-based water and soil conservation to enhance irrigation, crop diversification, and farm incomes. James Herenj from Jharkhand was recognised as runner-up for his dedicated efforts in rejuvenating traditional water bodies and empowering tribal communities.
