Woman killed in Budbud, one arrested
The Statesman | 2 September 2025The body was discovered beside national highway 19 near Kota village. The victim was a resident of Bagdipara in Kota.
Suman Kumar Jaiswal, SCP of Kanksha, visited the area with other senior police officers. He confirmed that one person, Haru Bagdi, has been arrested in connection with the case.
Police sources said the accused had an illicit relationship with the victim, who was a widow and had been involved with him for several years. She is survived by two minor children.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the couple were returning home in a toto when, following a heated altercation, the accused allegedly killed her with a sharp knife. He was produced before the Durgapur Court and will be taken into custody for further investigation.
The body has been sent to Durgapur Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem. Police added that the accused has confessed to committing the crime.
