• Abhishek Banerjee tells Arambagh TMC leadership to forget differences and work unitedly

  • Keeping in mind that four of the seven seats in the Arambagh Lok Sabha constituency were won by the BJP in the 2021 Assembly elections, All India Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee today instructed the Arambagh organisational district leaders to bury all differences and work unitedly for better results.

Addressing an organisational meeting that focused on Arambagh and Ghatal alongwith state president Subrata Bakshi, he stressed that contact with the public had to be increased to improve relations with the voters. The meeting was attended by Arambagh organisational district president Ramendu Singh Roy, Arambagh MP Mitali Bagh, and leaders of the Yuva, INTTUC and Mahila Trinamool Congress branches of the party.

Trinamool’s top leadership is highly concerned over the factional conflicts in Arambagh’s organisational units in Hooghly district, where multiple groups within the party are causing a big headache. During the meeting, ways to bolster a political hold in Purshura, Goghat, Khanakul as well as Arambagh Assembly constituencies were discussed. These are the four seats in the district that the party lost to the BJP in 2021. Haripal, Tarakeswar and Chandrakona seats were also taken up.

In addition, there had been a close fight between the two parties in last year’s Lok Sabha election for the Arambagh seat, where Mitali Bagh won by just 6,399 votes.

According to Trinamool sources, everyone has been instructed to remove differences and fight next year’s Assembly elections unitedly.
In the prevaling situation, the party’s top leadership has asked the Arambagh Sub-Division leaders and workers to increase public contact and address local issues. The sources also said instructions have been given to further intensify the party’s campaign focusing on attacks on Bengalis working in BJP-ruled states.

The senior leaders also heard the opinions of the district leadership on proposed changes to be made at the block level. The organisational district leadership submitted multiple names from different blocks of Arambagh Sub-Division. However, Abhishek Banerjee and Subrata Bakshi made it clear that nothing was finalised just by submitting the proposed names.

The selection process depends on certain basic criteria. The public image of the proposed individual, his acceptence by the party workers, and above all, the survey report of IPAC – all these key factors would play a major role before the organisational changes were made. The final decision would, however, be taken by party Supremo Mamata Banerjee.

Arambagh district organisational president Ramendu Singha Roy said, “Both Abhishek Banerjee and Subrata Bakshi have instructed that much hard work is required for achieving victory in next year’s Assembly election, especially in the places where the party’s performance was not satisfactory. Party leaders and workers should bury all differences and work unitedly in the entire Hooghly district.”
