• Job scam: Partha gets bail in CBI court, to stay in prison

  • Kolkata: Former education minister Partha Chatterjee was granted bail on Wednesday by the CBI court at Alipore in the classes 9, 10 teacher recruitment case. However, he will not be released from prison as he is in custody in connection to the primary teachers' recruitment scam.

Chatterjee has already received bail in the ED's primary recruitment scam case.

On Wednesday, Chatterjee, along with several other accused, moved a bail petition before the court. The central agency opposed the bail plea, arguing that each recruitment scam case was separate and had different kinds of evidence and effects.

Chatterjee's lawyer Biplab Goswami argued that he was not interrogated in connection to the cases under review since he was arrested. He was not named in the FIR and was in custody for three years, Goswami said.
