on Wednesday condoled the death of Kishwar Jahan, 81, whose son Rizwanur's death in Sept 2007 had sparked a massive outrage and led to a CBI probe. Kishwar's other son Rukbanur is now a TMC MLA.
Banerjee had provided the family with legal help at that time.
The CM wrote on X: "I am deeply saddened by the death of Kishwar Jahan, the mother of Rizwanur and Rukbanur. I had a deep personal relationship with her. She loved me as her own. I used to visit her every Eid. So many old memories are coming to mind. She will remain in my heart forever. I extend my heartfelt condolences to Rukbanur and all the family members." Kishwar was suffering from age-related ailments. Her last rites will be done on Thursday.
