Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Thursday allowed an assistant teacher of a state-run school, currently in Bolpur sub-jail as an accused in a Pocso case, to take the SLST examination scheduled for Sept 7 and 14.
This examination is for the recruitment of teachers for Classes 9-10 and 11-12 as directed by the Supreme Court, following the cancellation of the entire panel of SSC appointments.
Justice Amrita Sinha allowed the accused, who was permitted to continue in service until Dec 31, 2025, to take the examination from the Bolpur sub-jail. The counsel for the West Bengal School Service Commission submitted that there were no issues with granting such permission.
Justice Sinha directed the school education commissioner and superintendent of the Bolpur sub-jail to make adequate arrangements so that the accused can take the examination while in custody.
