Ahead of the Amazon Great Indian Festival (AGIF), Amazon India is gearing up to meet rising customer demand in West Bengal, bringing customers unmatched value, speed, and selection. Strengthening its infrastructure in West Bengal, Amazon India has expanded its operations network with a new Fulfilment Centre in Hooghly, adding to the three existing ones in Howrah. With this, Amazon now has a total of four Fulfilment Centres and three Sortation Centres in the state with over 1,500 ‘I Have Space’ (IHS) stores, and more than 100 Delivery Stations, empowering local sellers to serve customers faster while also creating new job opportunities in the region. These investments have enabled customers in the region get their Amazon orders faster, with same-day deliveries increased by more than 170 per cent year-over-year (YoY) across Kolkata.
The company also revealed ‘buying and selling trends in Kolkata today. Popular products bought in the city are smartphones, consumer electronics, fashion & beauty, home & kitchen, groceries and everyday essentials among others. Popular products sold by sellers from the city include kitchen products, sports, furniture, luggage & smartphones.
With the festive season coming up, customers in Kolkata are showing a marked preference for premium products-notably in the fashion, home & kitchen and electronics categories. In Kolkata, festive and wedding shopping is increasingly going premium, with customers opting for silk sarees, embellished flats, heritage jewellery, curated wedding bundles, and international beauty brands. Customers are indulging in premium segments like luxury ayurveda, skincare, and professional beauty with the overall luxury beauty and watches categories both growing at 30 per cent YoY.
