• ER, SER to run Puja special trains for festive crowd

  • With an increasing demand by passengers during the upcoming festive season, the Eastern and South Eastern Railways have decided to run Puja Special trains to cater to the huge rush.

    In the Eastern Railway, the authorities have announced plans to operate special trains for Puja, Diwali and Chhath. The zonal railway has decided to run Puja Special train between Kolkata and Mau. The train will leave Mau at 1.30 p.m. on every Wednesday between 24 September and 12 October making eight trips during the period. It will reach Kolkata at 8 a.m. the next day.

    Likewise, trains between Kolkata and Lucknow and Malda Town and Anand Vihar would also be operated by the ER to meet the huge demand from passengers. The 03107 Kolkata – Lucknow Puja Special will leave Kolkata at 11.55 p.m. on every Thursday between 2 October-6 November to reach Lucknow at 12.10 a.m. on the third day. The 03108 Lucknow-Kolkata Puja Special will leave Lucknow at 1:40 a.m. on every Saturday between 4 October and 8 November to reach Kolkata at 12.40 a.m. on the next day. The train, 03435 Malda Town- Anand Vihar (T) Puja Special will leave Malda Town at 9.30 a.m. on every Monday between 29 September and 24 November.

    The ER is to run another Puja Special train from Kolkata to Patna keeping in view the festive season. The 02023/02024 Howrah-Patna-Howrah special train is to run as per its existing timings and stoppages leaving Patna on every Sunday between 21 September and 16 September. On the other side, 02023 Howrah – Patna special will leave Howrah on every Sunday between 21 September and 16 October.

    The South Eastern Railway also has announced special trains to clear extra rush of the passengers during Durga Puja. The zonal railway will operate 08047/08048 Shalimar-Rangapara North-Shalimar Special trains with the 08047 Shalimar-Rangapara North Special leaving Shalimar on every Friday. In the return direction, 08048 Rangapara North-Shalimar Special will leave Rangapara North on every Saturday. Another train 08629/08630 Ranchi-Gorakhpur-Ranchi Special would be operated to leave Ranchi on every Saturday.
