  • Kolkata: Most of the exam centres where the second SLST examination was held on Sunday will host the first part of the higher secondary examination starting on Monday. A total of 6.6 lakh candidates will appear for the OMR-based examination.

This is the first time the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education is conducting HS exams in two parts, with the first part slated from Sept 8 to 22.

Several school heads highlighted that it was difficult to handle both major exams one after another. Jadavpur Vidyapith's headmaster, Partha Pratim Baidya, said that they separated two groups to conduct both exams seamlessly. He said, "We planned accordingly because both exams are equally important.

Today, after the SLST exam was over, we immediately started preparation for the HS, completing the work in an hour.

    "

Lake Town Girls' High School headmistress, Srabana Chowdhury, said it was difficult to prepare for the next day's exam with limited staff. "We have only one Group-D staffer, so it was quite difficult for us. It took time, but it was done by the evening." Three teachers from her school are appearing for the SLST test as they were from the 2016 panel.

    ."

HS Council president, Chiranjib Bhattacharjee, said, "All exam centres knew about it and planned accordingly."

The first part of the HS examination will be held on OMR sheets, starting from 10 am and ending at 11.15 am. This time, around 1.5 lakh more examinees will appear for the exam than that in 2025, when 5.4 lakh appeared. Number of girls is 79,582. Exam will be held across 2,106 centres, of which 122 have been identified as sensitive. Each room will have at least two invigilators, which will be increased depending on the total student strength.
