Kolkata: Prominent faces of the teachers' protest attended the state level selection test on Sunday, wearing black clothes as a symbol of their protest.
Mehebub Mandal, a prominent face of the protest movement, reached Sonarpur Vidyapith wearing a black kurta.
Before entering the exam centre, he said, "We are mentally distressed at this stage.
Fighting again for a new job is stressful for us. Innocent people have been victimised through unconstitutional means, against which we are protesting. We are quite worried about getting a job as we are actively associated with the protest movement."
Rakesh Alam, another face of the protest, was also seen reaching the exam centre wearing a black t-shirt. Thyangapara High School in Dakshin Dinajpur was his exam centre, where he taught for the last eight years. "In this school, where I taught for the last eight years and where I was an invigilator for such types of exams before, I am appearing as a candidate today. As a representative of eligible teachers, I condemn the state govt, which is trying to wash away the sins they committed.
However, it won't be easy for them as the protest will go on."
