  • Haringhata: Announcements on reduction in GST and tax cuts for most consumer products will have a positive impact on buyer sentiment, expects Flipkart. The new GST rates will come into effect on Sept 22.

Praising the Centre for the revision in GST rates, Bharath Chinamanthur, Flipkart's senior vice-president in supply chain innovation and seller experience said on Tuesday: "We are very grateful to the govt. Customers will benefit from the tax cut, and MSMEs and artisans will get input tax credit for their products. We expect it will have a positive impact on overall consumer sentiment."

When asked whether it would help the e-commerce major to increase its sales in the festive season, he replied, "We expect that the govt's steps will be carried forward.

    We are positive."

In a statement, the company said, "At Flipkart, we have sensitised our seller partners and, through our simplified seller dashboard, are making it easier for them to adopt these changes. We remain fully committed to working with sellers to ensure that the benefits of GST reductions are effectively passed on to customers."

Chinamanthur revealed that Flipkart was coming up with more fulfilment centres in both large and non-large segments, with a focus on tier-II and tier-III cities. "We are setting up more delivery hubs near the locality," he added, while interacting with media persons at Flipkart's largest fulfilment centre at Haringhata.
