Malda: Two Higher Secondary examinees died when their motorbike was hit by a pick-up van on the Samsi-Ratua State Highway near Matiganj on Wednesday. The victims, Tanmoy Pramanik (18) and Md Rehan (17), were residents of Pukhuria and students of Samsi Agril High School.
They were heading to Ratua High School for their HS exam at the time. Locals blocked the road briefly in protest.
Chiranjib Bhattacharya, president of the HS council, who was in Malda on Wednesday, said, "This is a tragic incident. I urge all examinees to drive two-wheelers carefully."
