Kolkata: JU pro-VC Amitava Datta on Thursday said the university is ready to conduct students' union polls and is waiting for the nod from the state govt.
Datta said, "We have written to the govt multiple times, expressing our will and preparedness to conduct students' union elections."
A university source said, "In response to a letter from JU requesting to conduct union polls, the govt in Jan instructed the university to wait for instructions."
Union elections in higher education institutions have not taken place since 2020.
