  • Kolkata: Social workers from Bengal—hailing from different communities— have lent a helping hand to the flood-hit people in Punjab with relief materials. Indian Human Assistance (IHA) Foundation stepped forward with the initiative "Punjab Calling – Flood Relief Drive 2025", reaching out to hundreds of families in Ajnala, Dera Baba Nanak, and Gurdaspur.

The foundation members stated that they would expand their relief operations in more villages of the flood-ravaged Punjab. Volunteers from the foundation moved around the flooded areas, often wading through chest-deep water and using boats to reach the marooned families. They set up relief camps for people to collect food along with relief kits, comprising bed sheets, pillows, blankets, mosquito nets and life-saving medicines, among other things.

Caring Heart India has also supported the foundation in this mission. With the help of a tractor, the volunteers rescued a family of five people who were stranded on the rooftop of their house for two days.

Satnam Singh Ahluwalia, chairman of IHA Foundation and general secretary of Gurdwara Behala, traveled from Kolkata to Punjab to supervise the flood relief efforts. He said, "This drive is more than relief; it is a reaffirmation that humanity rises above borders, languages, and faiths."

Harmeet Singh, IHA team Punjab coordinator said, "We have seen fields submerged, villages cut off, and families losing their year's harvest in one stroke butPunjab is not alone."
