Kolkata: Police on Saturday filed a 340-page charge sheet in the Tamanna Khatun murder case, 83 days after the 10-year-old girl was killed in a bomb blast on June 23 following
's bypoll victory in Nadia's Kaliganj.
The charge sheet comes days after Khatun's mother Sabina met Krishnanagar police chief Amarnath K., expressing dissatisfaction over handling of the case by local cops. She also alleged that several accused were still at large.
The charge sheet names 10 arrested individuals, including prime accused Dayal Sheikh, the local TMC booth committee president. Dayal's brothers, Adar and Anwar, allegedly created an atmosphere of fear in the area before and after the incident.
The three brothers and seven others face charges of murder under BNS and sections under the Explosives Act.
Sabina had initially accused 24 individuals for the murder of her daughter. On that fateful day, a victory procession led by Dayal and his supporters allegedly turned violent, culminating in a bomb attack on Sabina's house, leading to Khatun's tragic death. The case sparked significant local unrest and calls for justice.
