Modi arrives in Kol to inaugurate key defence conference

Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Kolkata at 6.38pm on Sunday on a special Indian Air Force flight from Assam's Jorhat. From the airport, he went to Raj Bhavan, where he will be spending the night.
On Monday, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Combined Commanders' Conference 2025, and leave from there to Purnea to inaugurate the Purnea airport.
The three-day conference will be held from Sept 15 to 17 at the Eastern Command headquarters in Vijay Durg.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh has also arrived in the city for the conference, which will be attended by NSA Ajit Doval, chief of defence staff General Anil Chauhan and defence secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
The theme for this year's conference is "Year of Reforms – Transforming for the Future," focusing on reforms, transformation, change, and operational preparedness.
Receiving the Prime Minister at the airport were Bengal minister Sujit Bose, chief secretary Manoj Pant and DGP Rajeev Kumar.
Bengal BJP netas, including state chief Samik Bhattacharya, leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari and junior union ministers Sukanta Majumdar and Shantanu Thakur were also present.
Police imposed restrictions on vehicular movement on VIP Road, Ultadanga Flyover, EM Bypass, AJC Bose Road and Raj Bhavan South Gate for the PM's movement on Sunday.
Traffic will be restricted on Red Road, Fort William East Gate and Kidderpore Road on Monday.
This is Modi's second visit to Bengal in less than a month. On his Aug 22 visit, he unveiled multiple development projects and addressed a rally in Dum Dum.
