    on Monday. Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Congress's Bengal minder, said, "He (Basu) was one of the prominent netas in the state who was vocal against the theft of votes.

    He joined Congress to strengthen its fight to protect the rights of voters.

    The Congress high command called upon its supporters to initiate a month-long campaign on the "right to vote" and build a narrative against both BJP and Trinamool in Bengal.

    Talking about potential alliances ahead of the elections in Bengal, Congress state chief Subhankar Sarkar said, "The party has to be strengthened in the state first. Congress will fight against those who are taking away people's right to vote."

    Congress spokesperson Suman Roychowdhury said, "Even if there is a possibility of an alliance with any political party in the state, the party's top netas have asked us to raise our voice against them if necessary. We have been asked to expose whoever is trying to snatch people's right to vote."
