Howrah: A 51-year-old assistant engineer of WBSEDL, Biswajit Pakrashi, died at Howrah metro station on Tuesday morning. His colleague, who was also present, said Pakrashi did not receive medical treatment for 45 minutes due to poor reaction of authorities and non-availability of basic medical equipment.
A Metro official said that they came to know at 9.30 am that Pakrashi was lying unconscious and responded promptly. "Two staff took him to Howrah District Hospital, where super Narayan Chakraborty declared him dead at 10 am."
Pakrashi's colleague Sanjay Chakraborty said he had found him lying unconscious near the elevator at 9.15 am. They claimed that despite being alerted, help came 20 minutes later. "Doctors said if he was brought a few minutes before, he could have survived," said Chakraborty. tnn
