‘No illegality in implementation of pay panel salary revision by state’

Kolkata: Dismissing a writ petition by state-aided college teachers demanding that their salary revision under the
come into effect from 2016 instead of 2020, Calcutta High Court on Tuesday held that the state can either adopt or rescind it; there is no illegality.
In the present case, Ministry of Human Resources Development announced a revision of the pay scale of central govt employees in 2017, which was notified in 2018. This scheme was supposed to come into effect from 2016. The college teachers claimed that the state revised their pay in 2019, which was to be in effect from Jan 1, 2020.
