  • Airports Authority of India (AAI) will observe Yatri Seva Diwas on 17 September across its airports with a range of passenger-focused initiatives, officials said Wednesday.

Nivedita Dubey, regional executive director of AAI’s eastern region, said the day will celebrate the authority’s commitment to putting travellers at the centre of its operations. Airports in the region will welcome passengers with traditional gestures, set up special help desks, and host activities including tree plantation drives, folk dance performances, painting and quiz contests for children, and themed photo booths.

Health camps and blood donation drives will also be held, along with school visits aimed at introducing students to career opportunities in aviation. Dubey said passenger feedback exercises and influencer outreach programmes are also planned to strengthen engagement and showcase available facilities. She highlighted the recent inauguration of Purnea Airport in Bihar by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a major step in expanding regional connectivity and improving passenger services.

Political and industry observers say the Yatri Seva Diwas programmes are part of AAI’s broader push to improve infrastructure and enhance the passenger experience across India’s growing aviation network.
