A 44-year-old woman, identified as Sanchita Agarwal, died after a fall from an apartment building in the Urbana Complex in Anandapur in Kolkata, police said on Monday.
According to police the incident occurred at around 5:30 am early Monday morning.
Police at the Anandapur police station said, Sanchita, who was the wife of Rakesh Agarwal, reportedly jumped from an open balcony on the 19th floor of the residential tower.
Her residence was on the 7th floor in the same building. Sanchita was found lying in a pool of blood under tower number 4 at around 5:30 am, police said.
Police said a suicide note was however not found at the scene. She was taken to the NRS Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.
She was survived by two daughters who helpled in identifying the body, police said.
Police said, according to sources, Sanchita was very shy and would not socialise much. Her body has been sent for a post mortem.
Authorities have registered the incident as “fall from height” and are investigating the circumstances that led to her death.
