  • Kolkata: The divide in Bengal politics was bridged for once on Wednesday with senior Trinamool netas wishing PM

    on his birthday and the state BJP organising various programmes to mark the occasion.

    wrote on X, "Greetings to Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi on his birthday."

    This was followed by party MP Mahua Moitra and spokesperson Kunal Ghosh. Moitra posted on X, "Wishing Narendra Modi ji a very happy 75th birthday - good health & all happiness, Sir!"

    Ghosh's post was slightly more elaborate. He wrote, "The paths are different. The parties are different. The opposition will continue.

    The fight will continue. But we extend our wishes to the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi... Our fight is against BJP. We will not cede an inch to Modiji and his party. But we will also extend our greetings to the Prime Minister."

    Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya inaugurated a photo exhibition at the Indian Museum to celebrate Modi's life and works. "Indians across the world are greeting the Prime Minister on his birthday.

    He has presented a new India before the youth. Free ration was given to 80 crore Indians after Covid. He made arrangements for vaccination of the Indians while helping other nations by supplying vaccines to them," Bhattacharya said.

    The opposition leader in the Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, participated in a "seva" at Nandigram in East Midnapore on the occasion of the PM's birthday.

    "Seva programmes are close to PM Modi's heart. These programmes will continue.

    His down-to-earth attitude and love for the country are an example for all Indians. It has inspired every BJP worker in the country," Adhikari said.

    Later in the day, he joined a programme in Nandigram to felicitate rural woman workers. "They (the woman workers) relentlessly provide various services and in turn facilitate the execution of govt schemes and ensure their successful implementation. Their tireless efforts and commitment to serving our communities embody the spirit of Seva that Modiji inspires in us all," he wrote on his X handle.

    Union minister Sukanta Majumdar participated in charitable programmes in Balurghat, South Dinajpur.

    "The Bengal govt has not allowed the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in the state. If voted to power, we will try to run Swasthya Sathi and Ayushman Bharat simultaneously in Bengal. They (beneficiaries) will get health insurance benefits worth Rs 10 lakh," Majumdar said.
