1 dead, 30 hurt as bus carrying pilgrims from UP hits truck near Gurap
Times of India | 18 September 2025Of the injured, 21 were critical and taken to Burdwan Medical College Hospital for treatment. The deceased was identified as 45-year-old Ramdeo Mishra.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of the bus had probably fallen asleep at the wheel, causing the bus to hit a truck from the back. Cops have seized the truck. Another 55 pilgrims, travelling in a second bus, had a close shave.
After the accident, the pilgrims were moved to a community hall near Gurap PS. A bus was arranged to ferry them to their destination.
Dhanekhali MLA Asima Patra visited the spot and spoke to the pilgrims.
