Kolkata: Vice chancellor of West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Nirmal Kanti Chakrabarti, on Thursday handed over a Braille version of the Constitution to Speaker Biman Bandopadhyay.
The Braille edition is designed to provide easy access to the Constitution, ensuring that people with visual disabilities can engage with the nation's key legal document.
NUJS published the Braille version in July 2024. It took over two years to complete 16 volumes of the version.
"We have presented it to the Supreme Court as well as the Calcutta High Court. The Speaker appreciated that it will be helpful to the visually impaired, those who are coming to the library and want to access the Indian Constitution. He appreciated the university's work towards differently-abled persons. This is the third state; first, it was printed in Maharashtra and then in Gujarat. We have given one set to our Parliament library as well," Chakrabarti said.
