Kolkata Metro Durga Puja Services: Kolkata Metro is preparing to manage the festive rush during Durga Puja, which will be celebrated from September 28 to October 2 this year. With thousands of pandal-hoppers expected to assemble in the city, metro train services are likely to remain the most convenient and preferred mode of travel during the festive days.
To manage the festive rush during Durga Puja in the ‘City of Joy’, the country’s oldest metro network, has announced unlimited rides for Tourist Smart Card holders. These cards are available at a cost of Rs 250 for 3 days and Rs 550 for 5 days.
“In order to facilitate travel of large number of tourists/visitors during ensuing Durga puja, Metro Railway, Kolkata is extending the facility of unlimited journeys for Tourist Smart Card owners for 3 and 5 days at a cost of Rs 250 and Rs 550 respectively,” the Kolkata Metro said in a statement.
The Kolkata Metro Tourist Smart Cards are available at all booking counters of Metro stations. “In order to avoid rush at the booking counters, the commuters are requested to use Tourist Smart Cards/ Smart Cards and book tickets through Aamar Kolkata Metro app to save time and money as Metro Railway is providing 5% rebate/discount on fare on value of Smart Cards and Mobile QR tickets,” it said.
In recent days, the Kolkata Metro passengers are opting for Smart Cards and mobile QR tickets for hassle-free travel. “Commuters are gradually switching over to Smart travel in Metro Railway Kolkata by buying Smart Cards and booking smart mobile QR tickets. In last 11 days total 24170 smart cards have been sold and more than 4.56 lakhs passengers have booked smart mobile QR tickets in this month,” the Kolkata Metro said.
