  • Kolkata: Walking out of the special PMLA court on Saturday, Bengal minister of correctional homes Chandranath Sinha said he has faith in the judiciary after the judge heard the ED's plea to shift him to the central agency's custody.

The verdict on the plea is expected on Tuesday.

"I have faith in the judiciary. I will continue to trust them," said Sinha. In court, Justice Suvendu Saha criticised the ED for being dormant for 11 months. The agency had seized Rs 41 lakh from Sinha's Bolpur residence in 2024. The judge asked if that was not enough reason to take Sinha into custody at the time.

ED's lawyer Dhiraj Trivedi argued that at the time Sinha had claimed he had made the money from his agriculture business. "We were trying to get material against him. Now that we have incriminating material, we are seeking his custody," Trivedi added.
