  • The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Nepal’s national tourism organisation, has announced that peace, stability and normalcy have been fully restored across the country following weeks of youth-led political protests and upheaval.

Tourism, one of Nepal’s most vital economic sectors, was severely disrupted after mass demonstrations against corruption, rising prices and internet restrictions escalated into violent clashes with security forces.

In a press statement issued on Saturday, the NTB said daily life has resumed smoothly under the new leadership. “With the formation of an interim government under the premiership of Sushila Karki, businesses and offices are open, and citizens are returning to their livelihoods with renewed optimism after weeks of curfews and travel restrictions,” the NTB stated.

Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of the NTB, expressed confidence in the country’s recovery. “Nepal is confident that the tourism sector will rebound stronger than ever as visitors return to experience the unparalleled beauty of the Himalaya, vibrant cultural traditions and sacred sites,” Joshi said. He urged the global travel industry to trust NTB’s communications, noting, “We will never say ‘welcome to Nepal’ if the situation is not okay. Tourists’ safety is our priority.”

He also highlighted the launch of the #NepalNow campaign to provide real-time updates about conditions on the ground.

According to NTB officials, Nepal’s young population is now showing renewed faith in good governance and socio-economic prosperity. The interim government has pledged timely elections, which observers believe will further consolidate public trust and stability.

The NTB’s statement offered reassurance to travellers, noting that public transport, domestic and international flights, and all major tourist destinations are operating normally. Hotels, restaurants and travel services are open and welcoming guests in a safe and comfortable environment. Passenger numbers traveling by both road and air have already returned to pre-protest levels, it added.

Tourism in Nepal has long demonstrated resilience in the face of adversity — from natural disasters to political upheavals — and has consistently bounced back thanks to the enduring spirit of its people and the support of the global travel community. NTB officials emphasised that Nepal is once again safe, peaceful and ready to host visitors from around the world.

For the latest travel updates and advisories, the NTB encourages visitors to consult its official websites.
