SMPK organizes one-day capacity building workshop on preventive vigilance

As a part of the ongoing three-month Preventive Vigilance Campaign (18 August-17 November), Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK) organised a one-day capacity building workshop on Friday, on preventive vigilance at its Kolkata Dock System. This event is a prelude to Vigilance Awareness Week 2025, aimed at reinforcing the values of integrity, transparency, and accountability in public service.
The workshop was inaugurated with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony by Samrat Rahi, Deputy Chairperson, SMPK, along with Devidatta Satpathi, Chief Vigilance Officer, SMPK, and other dignitaries.
The day-long event featured enlightening sessions by eminent speakers from various sectors, including: Vishal Kapoor, DRM, Howrah – Challenges in vigilance management; Sudhir Kumar Sharma, CMM, Eastern Railway – Enhancing service delivery; Shubhranshu, Retd. IRSME – Ethics in public service; Kousik Chakraborty, IOFS – Investigations & chargesheet handling; Bharat Bhushan Verma, Dy. CEO & CVO, GeM – A vigilance perspective on Government e-Marketplace.
The workshop witnessed active participation of Chief Vigilance Officers and senior officials from leading public sector organisations including Eastern Railway (ER), South Eastern Railway (SER), Coal India Limited (CIL), Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), Geological Survey of India (GSI), The Braithwaite Burn and Jessop Construction Company (BBJ), Andrew Yule, BRCIL, MSTC, and others. All heads of departments and senior officials from both Kolkata Dock System and Haldia Dock Complex were also present.
