Massive fire at Kolkata highrise; fire tenders rushed to spot
Times of India | 25 September 2025
NEW DELHI: A fire broke out at a guesthouse on the top floor of a four-storey building in south Kolkata on Thursday afternoon, police said.
A senior officer said there were no immediate reports of casualties.
Three fire tenders were deployed to bring the flames under control after the fire was reported around 1 pm.
Thick smoke billowing from the guesthouse on Anawar Shah Road sparked panic among people in the area.
"Firefighting is underway. We are ensuring that no one is trapped inside the building," the officer said.
Initial investigations suggest that the blaze was likely caused by an electrical short circuit, he said.
