During Durga Puja days (Panchami to Dashami) the Metro Railway, Kolkata will operate total 3021 number of special Metro services over it’s Blue, Green, Purple and Yellow Lines. In comparison to last year, 651 number of more services will be operated this year for passenger convenience. For the first time, such services will be operated in the Purple, Yellow and Esplanade to Salt Lake Sector V Section of Green Lines. Commuters will be able to reach almost all corners of the city with the help of Metro. The services will have total carrying capacity of 90.63 lakhs passengers in six days of Durga Puja. The capacity offered in this year is more than 120% extra than last year’s actual passenger counts of 41.15 Lakhs.
Overwhelming responses have been received from the commuters on the first day of New Scheme of Smart Cards being offered at a cheaper and affordable price with 10 years’ validity. The commuters are requested to avail Smart Card/Tourist Smart Card facilities to avoid rush at booking counters. The commuters may also book tickets before reaching the Metro Station through ‘Aamar Kolkata Metro’ app so as to save valuable time and money.
