Trinamul Congress leaders lambasted the BJP for sending Indian citizens speaking Bengali to Bangladesh and said the High Court has called such deportation as illegal.
“We have been stating this for quite some time and today the Division Bench of the Calcutta High Court has declared the deportation as illegal, said Dr Shashi Panja, state minister for women and child welfare and social development today.
“The BJP survives only by circulating lies. Earlier the saffron party used to say that no Durga Puja was allowed in Bengal and now their leader Amit Shah said Durga Puja is held with grandeur in Kolkata.
Kunal Ghosh, Trinamul Congress state secretary said the Durga Puja has exposed the organisation weaknesses of the BJP. “Out of 3,000 Durga Pujas, which are held in Kolkata, Amit Shah had received invitation to inaugurate three Durga Pujas. Of these one is held inside an auditorium, while the other is organised by a Trinamul turncoat.”
Mr Ghosh said none of the TMC MPs have organised any Durga Puja. “The saffron party does not have any contact with people. They have no contact in the areas they live. They have survived on television due to some channels,” he said, adding, “With this organisational strength the BJP is dreaming to win the Assembly election in Bengal in 2026. They should stop day dreaming,” he said.
He said the BJP earlier had said no Durga Puja was held in Bengal and now their leader said the Durga Puja is held with great enthusiasm in Bengal. The party should know that the UNESCO has given Intangible Cultural Heritage Tag to the Durga Puja which none of the puja held in the BJP-ruled states has received.
