The Metro Railway Kolkata registered its highest-ever daily passenger count of 9.82 lakh on Saturday 27, an official said. The new record surpasses the previous highest count of 9.61 lakh, which was registered on last year’s Maha Sashti. Just a day prior, on Friday, (chaturthi), the Metro also saw a significant turnout of over 9.32 lakh commuters.
The total passenger count for the two days, September 26 and 27, alone was approximately 18.64 lakh. On Maha Panchami, the Metro saw substantial ridership with the Blue Line carrying over 7.43 lakh passengers and the Green Line serving 2.21 lakh commuters, thereby reflecting the Metro’s crucial role in facilitating movement during Durga Puja festivities, helping people visit pandals and bypass congested roads
