Kolkata: Tata Capital Ltd will increased its portfolio of unsecured retail loans from 12% to 15% if the portfolio remains good, said managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) Rajiv Sabharwal on Friday.
The statement comes ahead of opening of bids for the company's
on Oct 6.
Sabharwal said retail unsecured loans include personal, education, microfinance and SME loans. "Currently, the unsecured loan category is less than 12% of our total portfolio. But if the portfolio quality is good, we will increase it up to 15% over time," he added.
He further said the company was taking a more cautious approach in giving education loans to those seeking to pursue higher education in the US in the wake of stringent visa restrictions imposed by the Trump administration.
Tata Capital's total loan book stood at Rs 2.3 lakh crore on June 30, a third of which were housing loans.
