Youth electrocuted during immersion
The Statesman | 4 October 2025Nearly fifty persons were marching towards the Damodar river for immersion of a community puja idol of Gopikantapur in Jamalpur police station area this afternoon. The deity was being carried on a tractor-trolley where some of the standing members of the organising club were holding the Durga idol. The police said that while approaching the river, one Achintya Pal (34), who was supervising the power supply arrangements, suddenly came into contact with a live wire by chance and died before he could be rescued.
