• Special train services for Durga Puja carnival

  • As the city gears up for the grand farewell to the goddess Durga, preparations for Durga Puja Carnival at Red Road are in full swing. In order to facilitate movement of the visitors on Red Road, Kolkata Metro Railway and Sealdah Division of the Eastern Railway have announced special services for the commuters tomorrow.

    The city Metro authorities have decided to run special services in the Blue Line and Green Line for the carnival tomorrow. As learnt from the Kolkata Metro Railway office, the carrier is to operate six special services for Puja carnival on Sunday in Blue Line and Green Line. The six services include three each in the Up and Down directions to be run at intervals of 20 minutes. The special services, however, would be operated after Sunday normal service in both the Metro corridors.

    In the Blue Line, services from Shahid Khudiram to Dakshineswar would be run at 10.03 p.m, 10.23 p.m. and 10.43 p.m. On the other way, services from Dakshineswar to Shahid Khudiram at 9.53 p.m, 10.13 p.m. and 10.33 p.m.

    In the Green Line, the timings of the special services from Salt Lake Sector V to Howrah Maidan include 10.20 p.m, 10.40 p.m. and 11 p.m. Likewise, services from Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake Sector V would be run at 10.20 p.m, 10.40 p.m. and 11 p.m.

    Apart from the Puja Carnival on Sunday, the city Metro has also decided to run 236 services on Monday instead of 272 services.

    Like the metro Railway, the Sealdah Division of the Eastern Railway has also decided to operate additional services to accommodate the extra rush of passengers attending the Durga Puja Carnival. According to the Sealdah Division office, the divisional railway has planned to run all Sunday Exempted EMU services (SUE) from 2 p.m. to midnight in all suburban sections as weekly day EMU services tomorrow.
