  • Coming down heavily on the Tripura administration for not allowing her party leaders to visit the Trinamul Congress party office that was vandalised on Tuesday night, party chairperson Mamata Banerjee said she contemplated going to Tripura if her party leaders were not allowed to visit the spot.

The leaders were kept waiting for two hours outside the airport. The delegation members sat in protest before they were allowed to visit the party office.

Talking to the reporters at the airport, Miss Banerjee said: “Tripura government has flouted all democratic norms. How could you stop the party MPs and leaders from visiting the site of vandalism,” she said.

Referring to the attack on the BJP MP, Khagen Murmu, Miss Banerjee said: “What can we do if the BJP MPs and MLAs do not visit the area and work for the people. Seeing them the people become hostile. We do not support any attack on anyone. I had also visited the hospital to check on Mr Murmu,” she said.

Miss Banerjee added: “The Tripura government had so much audacity that they did not take any action against those who had attacked the vehicles of Abhishek Banerjee and Sushmita Dev. The BJP leaders had instigated party workers to attack our party office. This is unfortunate and does not happen in democracy.”

Miss Banerjee said she was keeping a tab on the situation and would not tolerate any attack on her party office or any of her leaders or workers.
