The Sikkim government has begun preparations to welcome Union home minister Amit Shah, with chief minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) chairing a high-level coordination meeting at Samman Bhawan on Wednesday to review arrangements for the upcoming visit.
The meeting focused on overall planning, logistics, and programme management for Mr Shah’s visit. Officials reviewed the preparedness of various departments and discussed ways to ensure smooth coordination, timely execution of assigned tasks, and seamless inter-departmental communication.
Chief minister Tamang emphasised that Sikkim must uphold its tradition of warmth and hospitality, instructing all departments to ensure that every aspect of the visit is conducted “successfully, efficiently, and without lapses.” The final decision on the venue of the main event will be taken in due course.
According to official sources, the home minister’s visit will include participation in the Rashtriya Sahkari Sammelan–2025, along with the virtual inauguration and foundation stone laying of several key projects. These initiatives are expected to further accelerate Sikkim’s development journey, strengthen the cooperative sector, and expand opportunities for growth and prosperity across the state.
CM Tamang also said that the meeting discussed the tentative schedule for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit in November. “We reviewed key programmes, logistics, and coordination requirements to ensure that every arrangement is carefully planned and executed flawlessly,” he said.
