  • Jalpaiguri/Kolkata: A day after Bengal BJP demanded a probe by the National Investigation Agency into the attack on party MP Khagen Murmu and MLA Shankar Ghosh, an advocate moved the vacation bench of Calcutta High Court on Thursday with a similar petition.

Meanwhile, three more people were arrested in connection with the attack on Thursday.

Lawyer Anindya Sundar Das sought leave of the court to file the PIL, which included a prayer to the high court to order an investigation under the SC/ST Act as the MP belonged to the ST community. The vacation bench will take up the petition for hearing on Oct 14. Murmu and Ghosh were attacked while they were in Nagrakata to oversee relief work on Oct 6.

Meanwhile, lawyer Mayukh Mukherjee moved the high court seeking leave to file a writ petition on the same incident. He said the police were yet to arrest all the accused named in the complaint.
