  • Kolkata: In the wake of devastation triggered by floods in north Bengal, the Indian Tea Association (ITA) has sought financial assistance from the state for restoration of the embankment over the Hatinala river, which puts the Binnaguri tea garden at risk.

In a letter to the sub-divisional officer of Dhupguri block, Subhasis Mukherjee, secretary of the ITA, Dooars branch, stated that the estate incurred a "substantial loss" due to severe damage caused to the embankment built over the Hatinala.

The ITA also requested the SDO of Dhupguri for a vulnerability analysis under the disaster management cell.
