The Trinamul Congress (TMC) Bijoya Sammelani was held on Friday evening in Chandannagar amid a packed gathering of party leaders, workers and supporters. Present on the stage were state minister Indranil Sen, Arambagh MP Ms Mitali Bag, Chandannagar Corporation mayor Ram Chatterjee, deputy mayor Munna Agarwal, and other TMC leaders.
Addressing the gathering, Arambagh MP Mitali Bag said that the TMC is a party that respects and serves people irrespective of religion, caste or creed. “I come from a poor farming family, yet our party chief gave me the opportunity to serve the people of the Arambagh sub-division,” she said.
She urged party workers to stay united, reach out to people in their times of need, remain humble, and not fall into the trap of provocation set by the BJP. “As the elections approach, central investigation agencies become overactive, and common people get panicked by the distorted presentation of CAA, NRC and SIR by the BJP. In such circumstances, TMC workers must reach out to people, reassure them, and ask them to keep faith in chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee for their efforts towards progress and development. Communal forces must not be allowed to create unrest,” she added.
In his address, minister Indranil Sen praised Ms Bag for her dedication and service to the people of her constituency. “Her simplicity, generosity, and social work have earned her the spontaneous affection of the people,” he said.
Mr Sen added: “We, as party workers, must follow the ideology laid down by our party chairperson Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee, national general secretary. Forgetting all differences and respecting one another, we must stand united and defeat the communal forces that are trying to create unrest in the district and the state. Our right conduct, right approach, and service to the common people will ensure that we win more seats in the ensuing election. I am very confident about it.”
Chandannagar mayor Mr Chatterjee, in his address, thanked the large gathering of party leaders, workers, and supporters. He said, “We need to remain connected with the common people. The Duare Sarkar and Amader Para, Amader Samadhan camps have proved that people have immense faith in the TMC. The public is more concerned about welfare schemes, progress, and development initiatives taken by chief minister Mamata Banerjee. Hence, playing with religious sentiments will not help the BJP in any way.”
