CM names rescued elephant calf ‘Lucky’
Times of India | 16 October 2025'. "Since the calf survived such devastation, we have named her Lucky. It is a miracle that the little one made it through." She praised the forest department and rescue teams for their efforts.
The calf was stranded while the herd of 30 elephants was trying to cross the Mechi river. Kurseong forest officials rescued her after three hours of effort.
