In order to facilitate the devotees to visit Dakshineswar and Kalighat Temples on Kali Puja night the Kolkata Metro Railway has decided to run extended special services in the Blue Line. The city Metro is to operate 144 services including 72 each in the up and down directions on 20 October instead of 272 services run on weekdays normally.
Apart from this, the authorities have also decided to start the first service later than the normal schedule. On that day, the first service from Noapara to Shahid Khudiram would be operated at 7.54 a.m. instead of 6.50 a.m. The first service from Shahid Khudiram to Dakshineswar would be run at 8 a.m. instead of 6.54 a.m. while that from Mahanayak Uttam Kumar to Dakshineswar and Dakshineswar to Shahid Khudiram would also be operated at 8 a.m. The timings of the last service have also been changed. According to the city Metro railway office, the last service from Dakshineswar to Shahid Khudiram would be run at 10.51 p.m. instead of 9.28 p.m. In the other direction, services from Shahid Khudiram to Dakshineswar are to be run at 11 p.m. instead of 9.33 p.m.
Few changes have been made in the services of the Green Line also where the metro will run 124 services on Monday instead of 226 services. While the timing of the first Metro has been kept unchanged from Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake Sector V, the one from Salt Lake Sector V to Howrah Maidan would be run at 6.32 a.m. instead of 6.39 a.m.
In the Yellow Line the authorities would run 52 services with the first service at 10 a.m. from Noapara to Jai Hind Bimanbandar. The timings of the last services also have been changed.
As learnt, the number of services in the Purple and Orange Lines also would be reduced with change in the timings.
