3 potters die in road mishap
The Statesman | 26 October 2025The potters were returning back to Kolkata from Asansol on a small truck after finishing work there. The truck they were travelling in, as the police said, lost control suddenly and rammed on the back of a running bus at Gurap crossing in Hooghly. The critically injured potters were taken to the Burdwan Medical College and Hospital where they succumbed to their wounds shortly.
The deceased were identified as – Dibas Mondal (30) of Hingalganj PS area, Kaushik Mondal (28) of Haroa PS area in North 24-Parganas and Nimai Das (38) of Rabindra Sarovar PS area in Kolkata.
The potters were engaged by a club in Asansol for preparing a Jagadhatri idol.
