• Kolkata port signs series of investment MoUs worth 48,000 cr

  • Kolkata: The Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK) has signed a series of MoUs amounting to a committed investment of over Rs 48,000 crores across diverse sectors of maritime trade and green energy.

    SMPK signed an MoU with Dredging Corporation of India to establish a long-term partnership for dredging operations at the port. Haldia Petrochemicals has pledged significant investment towards establishing tank farms and enhancing petroleum, oil and lubricant-handling infrastructure at Haldia dock. Major port infrastructure expansion is further secured through collaborations with Adani Ports, JSW Infrastructure and Century Ports for new container terminal projects.

    Ultratech Cement will set up a cement bulk terminal at Kolkata dock. SMPK has also formalised tie-ups with leading institutions such as Science and Technology Park, Pune, and various start-ups, aiming at land management innovation and advanced logistics solutions.

    Real estate players like Srijan and Eden Realtors have also collaborated with SMPK in various river front development projects monetising the land assets of the port.

    SMPK chairman Rathendra Raman said: "These partnerships mark a defining step in SMPK's journey of transformation. By bringing together industry leaders and forward-looking institutions, we are building a future-ready maritime ecosystem that enhances trade capacity, attracts global investment, and supports sustainable and inclusive growth for the region."
