• DGR job fair at Fort William empowers ex-servicemen with new career options

  • Directorate General of Resettlement, department of ex-servicemen welfare, ministry of defence, organised a job fair for ESM of armed forces on 29 October at Vijay Durg (Fort William), Kolkata to bring ESM/retiring personnel seeking employment opportunities and the corporate entities on a common platform.

    The event received an overwhelming response from the ESM from Kolkata & adjacent areas.

    Approx 600 plus ESM from Army, Navy and Air force participated in the event seeking employment. 42 companies participated in the job fair offering 500 plus job vacancies.

    Maj Gen Rajesh Arun Moghe, GOC ,Bengal Sub Area addressed the gathering as the chief guest and interacted with ESM & corporates along with Brig Saumya Banerjee, ADG(East), DRZ(E).

    Bimal Samal, executive director- BNI Kolkata CBD(A) & North addressed the gathering as the corporate guest of honour.

    The shortlisted ESM would be interviewed/screened and subsequently employed in various roles ranging from supervisory, technical support, junior to senior management and administration.

    The event was beneficial for both corporate houses and the ESM. While the ESM got a platform to showcase their technical and administrative prowess acquired during their years in service, the corporates benefitted by screening the pool of experienced, disciplined and skilled ESM.

    The job fair is a DGR initiative providing ex-servicemen with second career options.
