  • The Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha will contest seats in the Jungle Mahal region in the upcoming Assembly elections in West Bengal, announced Dumri MLA Jairam Kumar Mahato.

At a Press conference in Purulia district, Mr Mahato stated that his party would soon launch a major social and political movement in the Junglemahal constituencies of South Bengal ahead of the 2026 Assembly polls.

He said that the struggle for water, forest, and land rights for the tribal population would continue, adding that he envisions a larger Jharkhand state comprising adjoining areas with a strong Adivasi presence.

“We are currently assessing the constituencies where we will contest in the forthcoming Assembly elections. We may not field candidates in all the seats but will finalise the list after analysing the survey results. The party is exploring opportunities in Purulia, Jhargram, Bankura, and West Midnapore districts,” he added.
